Sisterland

Coming to our attention via FatCat’s top-drawer demo collection, London’s (or maybe Leicester’s, or maybe Oxford’s, depending on the source) Sisterland revel in a gloriously messy, big-hearted noise, covered in fuzz but allowing an underlying sincerity and expressiveness. Taking Joy Division’s taught desperation and uprightness, combined with the tightness of Fire Engine and the brazen pop brio of Echo And The Bunnymen, Sisterland drag falsetto vocals and washed out guitar chords through a gauntlet of lean and sinewy songwriting, leaving nothing in the way of excess fat.
